Nova Scotia bankruptcy Q&A forum

Question:

I am a single woman on Social Assistance. My home is free and clear, but my assistance only covers my basic shelter because I do not have a mortgage payment. I owe $20,000 on my credit card and social assistance is taking $380 of my $400 to pay down the debt. I can not live on $50 per month, and I was told it would cost me $2000 to file bankruptcy. Is this correct
