Question:

I currently have a consumer proposal with my ex that will be paid off in just over a year. If I sell my home, am I required to pay out the balance of the proposal or can I continue monthly payments?

Answer:

Hello Laura, thank you for your question. You should refer to the terms of the proposal to determine if there is any requirement to pay the proceeds from the sale of your home. However, if there is no such requirement in the terms, you can continue with the monthly payments. We would encourage you to satisfy the proposal from the proceeds of the sale to complete it early, as your credit is improved once the proposal is completed. Please feel free to call our toll free number 310-6060 if you have any more questions or concerns. Kaitlin
